Is Life Really All About Our Attitude?

Most people would agree that an individual’s attitude has a strong influence on their life. If this is so, then the real question is; What are the elements that make up our attitude? After all, if we expect to be effective on a more consistent basis, then attitude needs to be more than just an occasional sense of well being or good feelings. Understanding these parts that create our overall attitude is crucial.

There are three categories considered to be instrumental in determining our attitude.  The first category is made up of behavioral components. The second is the cognitive or knowledge domain. This is our knowledge or skills in a particular area. For example, it may refer to our knowledge about the sales process. The third element is the affective region which is made up of our values, feelings, and emotions.

The most interesting aspect for all of this is that we can determine how each of these elements combine to create our attitude.  The key to success in life is one’s understanding of their behavior styles, affective elements, and cognitive or knowledge skills. Once an individual knows themselves through the identification of their natural personality factors, they are prepared to locate environments where this combination of talents can be used in harmony for the greatest benefit. In other words, you will have the right attitude because you will be doing what you do best, in a way that suits you, in an environment that rewards your skills, which then motivates you to set even higher goals. Does this sound to you like a path for self-actualization?
